Illawarra Advocacy is funded by the Federal Department of Social Services to provide independent advocacy to people residing in the N.S.W. region of Illawarra and Shoalhaven. The organisation provides its advocacy services to consumers at no cost.
Illawarra Advocacy provides professional individual advocates who work alongside people with disability to facilitate the equal and just application of rights and responsibilities. The organisation is committed to a person centred approach, and adheres to The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Illawarra Advocacy can assist its consumers with, but not limited to:
- Dealing with government departments
- Service Providers
- Accessing services
- Accommodation issues
- Legal and financial advice assistance
- Employment matters
